Called
Matt 22:14 For many are called, but few [are] chosen.
Mat 20:16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.
"Do not serve your God from the motive of 'personal profit.' Do what you do for God from the heart, simply because He has called you to do it. Be His bond slave, who serve for love's sake alone." All who were serving from the motive of "personal profit" disqualified themselves from being "chosen" for increased stewardship.
But basically, we believe when one gets to the first expression "many are called but few are chosen," it simply means that the gospel is preached to many, but few respond and manifest having been chosen by God. In other words, God has extended the gospel call to many, but there are only a few who respond.
Chosen
This word is used 123 times in 119 verses in the King James Bible, and a varying number of times in other translations. For example, "chosen" is used in reference to:
Warriors (Ex. 15:4; Judg. 20:16)
Hebrew nation (Ps. 105:43; Deut. 7:7)
Jerusalem as the seat of the temple (1 Kings 11:13)
Christ is the "chosen" of God (Isa. 42:1)
Apostles are "chosen" for their work (Acts 10:41).
The word "chosen" is used in regard to those who do not profit by their opportunities ("many are called, but few are chosen")
Being the “chosen” of God has everything to do with responding to the invitation. To say that we are called by the God of the universe is pretty impressive, but it is not nearly enough. We must responding is the key to the invitation. The process of being chosen is not complete until we reply favorably to the invite. Like the parable, maybe some are not concerned.
For many, a response might mean making changes or allowing changes to be made by oneself. For others, the cost of replying to the invitation may seem too great. Maybe some more pressing issues which limit what could be accomplish with time and effort. Whatever the case, regardless the cause, what is God really saying? Everything has already been prepared and placed before us. The call to His kingdom has gone out. How have you responded? Noted in a devotional by Joey Kibble, of Take 6.
Sent
Sent is the past tense of the word send. At this point one should be intrenched and moving in their calling. Sent is defined as follows:
a. To direct- to go on a mission: sent by God to compel others to the cross!
b. To require or enable to go: sent to mentor and encourage others in this commission.
c. To direct (a person) to a source of information; refer: to send others into greater dimensions of a "purpose" driven life.
d. To emit or issue, to move in the anointing of a Holy God! Knowing His presence is there.
Acts 17:28 "For in him we live and move and have our being."
In our case, searching the scriptures will reveal God’s plan for understanding the power of music and song. Anointed musicians, psalmists and singers are pivotal in praise and worship. These are attributes that usher in the presence of God! The song and dance must clap hands in unity. The dance can not be assumed, it must be identified. He has called us, chosen us and prepared us for ministry. Shall we go up together? We was walk in total authority. To be sent means accepting the call to teach and define each parameter of our mantle. There is not just one level there are countless dimensions!
Remember this passage of scripture, when our commission is a daily fight. I John 9:4-5, I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. We will work. We will move in Him, live in Him and have our being in Him!
In summary, one must excel, so as to direct or propel with force the power from within; driving and pushing so that change takes place in the lives of the recipients. Simply stated, to be sent is to be transported where He leads and we follow!
Think on these things: Can we really answer this question? Where we chosen, called, sent and released? Have we truly made Him Lord of our Heart? Is he really the air that we breathe?
When we really believe He is the Air we breathe, knowledge becomes a powerful instrument! It can be heard from the highest mountain and lowest valley. The wind reminds us of His power. His word is the air and the lasting impact for true change! What would happen if God our creator held His breath? Creation would cease to exist! For He is truly the Air we breathe!
